Old Delhi Tour

Day 3.

May 15, 2012

Week 1

Met the group with Natural Habitat Adventures today. An elderly couple called Pat and Jerry. They became the Kids of the group - very funny and witty fo 80+ years of age! They were from Nth California. The second couple were from NY, Bill and Dianna. However Bill was born and grew up in the UK. There was also Rita fro a small town in USA. Also of the retired age group.

I was a bit relieved that they were all a lot older. This meant I could keep to myself without being rude. I did come alone to spend time with myself, making friends is a bonus, but not a necessity.

Seema (Indian lady) led us on a tour bus through some ancient palaces of previous rulers of India. We also saw  pole that was placed by Alexander The Great. Standing about 3m hiegh and 1.5m below the ground. When they tried to remove it to further build a city, it became lose. but still thoroughly submerged. That is how Delhi got it's name; it means "lose". Strange but true...
The mogul tomb entry

The Mogul tomb through a sandstone screen.

The grand Mogul tomb temple.
We also visited a great Mogul temple. Many of the tomb temples in India have one or more entrance gates, that look like temples alone.
